BIRTH

COMPLETE PHYSIOLOGICAL BIRTH CARE

Birth is a Rite of Passage.

The gift of birth is one that women have been offered to deepen into their true potential and to provide unbound healing for generations past, present, and future. To birth in freedom and self-autonomy is the cornerstone to trusting ones own life outside of birth, and is intricately designed to prepare a woman for Motherhood.

When we listen to the knowledge of the body, and understand the physiological processes of birth it becomes clear that birth is meant to NOURISH, EXPAND, AND CREATE LIFE ITSELF - not deplete it.

Can we remember what our bodies have been doing for hundreds of thousands of years?
Successful enough that we are here existing. Each and every one of us birthed from the womb of a woman.

My service is for those who have the devotion and intention to birth physiologically.

Physiological birth can be defined as follows: “The spontaneous onset and progression of labor culminating in a vaginal birth of a baby and their placenta.”

What does this mean?

Simply put, it means birth is left to just….be birth, without adding anything to alter its natural beginning, progression, and end. It allows space for both the mothers body, and baby’s timeline be honoured in its fullness without interruption or interference.

*This care includes support for all birth experiences, including early birth (miscarriage) & stillbirth.

pregnancy + birth + postpartum +

pregnancy + birth + postpartum +

pregnancy.

Your pregnancy is a time to deeply and intentionally prepare for your birth and postpartum experience. It is a time to bask in the miracle of life growing within you and to navigate anything that may arise emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Ideally some of this is has been addressed before conception, as much of this work will be your own untangling of trauma and fear which impacts your perceptions of birth and the capacity of your body.

My pregnancy care is simple and profound. Focusing on how present, and IN the body we can become as the greatest preparation. For when we are able to be fully with ourselves, noticing, listening, understanding….we can start to learn what the body needs in each moment. How to nourish it and move it. How to be with sensations good and ‘bad’. How to sit in big emotions like anger, grief, disappointment, and anxiety. How to make grounded and informed decisions based on the needs of your individual experience.

If you are able to be with all of these things within your own self, birth will arrive with much more openness and curiosity rather than fear.

Some other topics we may lean into during pregnancy:

  • Education on physiology and the natural unfolding of birth.

  • Making sense of prenatal care options & alternatives.

  • Birth safety & informed use of emergency medical care.

  • Knowing your pregnancy & birth rights.

  • Support through prenatal complications and high risk pregnancies.

  • Addressing birth and womb trauma before birth.

  • How to build mental resilience for pain and discomfort for natural birth.

  • Cultivating connection to faith to support natural birth.

  • How to include your partner in your birth choices & couples counselling.

  • Understanding the importance of who is in the birth space.

  • Finding your voice and courage to trust yourself.

  • Understanding the Maiden to Mother identity shift.

  • Boundary work.

  • Preparing for postpartum.

  • Ancestral nutrition and herbal support for pregnancy and postpartum.

birth.

The time when your baby arrives Earthside is truly a miracle in motion. It is a gift to offer your baby an arrival into the world that is full of peace, love, and faith, welcomed from the womb into the arms of their own Mother -the one who has carried them all the way here. The journey to this moment encompasses many layers and dimensions which look different for each and every woman. Your labor is your own and nobody can walk the path for you.

My care in birth is hands off, trusting, and fiercely present. I am a witness to the unfolding of what you, your body, and your baby already know and offer gentle guidance should you desire it. I am not a medical provider, nor do I replace one and I will not be doing assessments which you may have experienced or would expect from a medically licensed Midwife such as routine cervical checks, fetal monitoring, or medication administration at any point. In my now 8 years of birth attendance, I have seen the spectrum of what birth can be and am confident in my ability to be the wise woman who will simply reflect your truth back to you and support you in your own sovereign decision making.

I will be there for you as early as you desire in your labor, and remain there until baby arrives and you are settled in with your new family. There is no change in cost for however long labor goes, for sometimes it is hours long, and others it is days. This is intentional to create a sense of spaciousness and relief of any timelines or rushing that may arise and allow birth to naturally unfold.

postpartum.

Postpartum is where my care for women began, and is a space I feel is deeply lacking in our society at large. Contrary to what we have been told, there IS a physiologically best way to support the postpartum body as well as the newborn. My care focuses on moving as close to this as possible in an effort to work alongside the bodies natural instincts, nervous system, healing processes, and hormonal blueprint rather than against them. Sometimes, we can get really caught up in comparison to others and how they do things, my goal is to support you in finding what makes sense for YOU and YOUR baby - not everyone else’s.

What does it look like to support physiology in postpartum?

For the Mother this looks like allowing for deep rest for the body. Giving space for the uterus and neighbouring organs to settle back into their origin and recalibrate from pregnancy, labor, and birth. I recommend women remaining in or close to the bed for the first 5-7 days after birth with no separation from baby. To allow for this, that woman must be closely tended to. Being brought her meals and water, support with breastfeeding, and company who she loves and trusts. To support the body after birth it is essential for a woman to eating ancestrally, meaning consuming animal products and whole foods. Warm, blood and iron rich proteins and fats to rebuild, nourish, and satiate the body which just gave its all to create life. Breastfeeding is also an essential process for a woman’s body after birth to support her hormones, nervous system, and connection to her baby.

For the Newborn this is to prioritize connection to their Mother through breastfeeding, skin to skin, and co-sleeping. Again, many of us are still un-learning much of what we have seen or perhaps what our own parents did for us as babies. One major and detrimental example is the “crying it out method” which millions of newborns were subjected to from parents led astray to the truth of the needs of their baby.

My care is gentle, informative, helpful, and continues far past those first weeks of postpartum.

Sometimes it looks like this:

  • Breastfeeding support.

  • Newborn care. Diapering, bathing, baby wearing, feeding when necessary.

  • Nourishing you and your family with organic hearty meals, either in your home or delivered.

  • Tending to your home. Laundry, tidying, dishes, bedmaking. Anything that allows you to spend more time with your baby or rest.

  • Caring for other children and animals.

  • Birth story debriefing.

  • Emotional support for you and your partner. Creating unity and communication tools for your unique roles as parents.

*In devotion to creating a continuum of care, you may call me for in person support visits anytime postpartum. At 6 months, 1 year, 2 years…etc. (additional cost).
